China: A Journey of 108,000 Li
In Chinese, when talking about great distances, people often use the phrase “108,000 li“, which is the equivalent of 33,554 miles. Of course, the usage of the term doesn’t refer to the actual distance, but rather to the idea that it is a huge distance.
On December 19, 2008, my family and I embarked on what could be called a journey of 108,000 li as we traveled to my homeland of China. We actually covered more than 19,000 miles round trip, a journey that took us to Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuzhen, Guilin, Guangzhou (my hometown), and Hong Kong.
This page presents a collection of blog entries and pictures chronicling my experience during the trip.
