More On Globat
I had ripped my Web-hosting service, Globat, a new one in a previous post after they crippled my blog and led me in a frustrating runaround through their tech support maze after a server migration. I had more problems with my server a couple days ago, when I was frequently getting “Internal Connection Error” messages when trying to load the blog. I e-mailed tech support, and after having to explain the issue twice, they actually fixed it. In fact, whatever they did also seemed to remedy the problems I had after the migration: Akismet is back up, my WordPress stats are functioning properly again, and the excruciatingly slow processing on the backend of the blog was gone. Of course, that begs the question: Why weren’t these things fixed two weeks ago?
In any case, with these problems fixed, the urgency in seeking a new Web-hosting company has subsided to a degree. I still have six months left on the current contract with Globat, and now I’m inclined to wait until the end of the contract to make a decision. How Globat performs in that time will determine whether I switch or not.
