Relaxing Weekend at the Beach
We spent a nice long Easter weekend with Courtney’s aunt and uncle at Carolina Beach, doing little and eating a lot. We did take time to head into Wilmington’s downtown and walked along the waterfront. While there, we stopped into Dock Street Oyster Bar for a light lunch of mussels with a gingery spicy Thai sauce and a plate of scorching hot crawfish. The crawfish were so hot, in fact, that we had to drop by Kilwin’s for some ice cream to cool off.
We also made a short drive over to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher on Saturday. That was apparently the place to be that day, as the whole parking lot was full when we got there. We had to while away some time around Fort Fisher and go back to the aquarium later. The highlights of the aquarium included a gator feeding and seeing Courtney size up the quails there for the frying pan. Alas, we were not quick enough to snag one :-)
