Monday Morning H-Back, Nov. 10

Ryan Torain, you rock. See you next year.
After several depressingly pathetic showings in a row, I actually had a good weekend in fantasy football this week. Both of my teams have wrapped up wins and one still has players left in the Monday night game. For once, I actually got good running back play in both leagues, thanks to Thomas Jones (3 TDs), DeAngelo Williams (140 yards, 1 TD), and Ryan Torain (who will always have a special place in my heart, even if not on my roster, for being good enough to find the end zone before he blew out his knee).
- I think this week might have been the best collective showing by running backs this year, and it was mostly done by players who aren’t elite backs: Thomas Jones, DeAngelo Williams, BenJarvus Green-Ellis (a good waiver wire claim if he’s still available), and Kevin Smith.
- Jake Delhomme, where do you get off throwing 4 INTs against the Raiders. THE RAIDERS!! With Matt Schaub out with an injury, one of my teams was reduced to starting either Delhomme or Sage Rosenfels, who combined for eight interceptions Sunday. Nice.
- Here’s a fantasy tip: If you are playing against me, start as many wide receivers as you can. A few weeks ago, I lost a game in part because my opponent got a 96-yard touchdown catch by Calvin Johnson. This week, my opponent got a 93-yard touchdown catch by Eddie Royal. I’m sure Wes Welker would be scoring 90-yard touchdowns against me if I didn’t have him on my team.
- Brady Quinn’s insertion into the Browns’ starting lineup might be just what Kellen Winslow needs to rejuvenate his season. Don’t expect 10 catches and 2 TDs every week (it was against the Broncos D, after all), but he should be posting better numbers than before. Heck, Quinn’s start seemed to have sparked tight ends all around the league this week after a mostly disappointing season from that lot: Tony Gonzalez (10 catches, 113 yards, 2 TDs), Dustin Keller (107 yards, TD), Tony Scheffler (4 catches, 92 yards), Antonio Gates (8 catches, 66 yards, TD), and even Bo Scaife (10 catches, 78 yards, TD) all posted big numbers.
