Monday Morning H-Back, Nov. 3

Owen Daniels’ big day wasn’t enough, for the Texans or my fantasy team.
Another Sunday, another forgettable couple of games for my fantasy teams. In one league, a team that led the league in scoring going into Sunday is about to fall to 4-5 with its third straight loss, while in my other league, my team played down to its potential and is getting smacked by 30 points. The loss of Tony Romo and the struggles of the Colts offense (I have Reggie Wayne and Joseph Addai) are really hurting me, even though I did get a nice fill-in performance from Eli Manning this week and even got 12 points from Cedric Benson for my other team, which is about three times more points than my RB position on that team has produced in the last three weeks combined.
- The one highlight for me was Texans tight end Owen Daniels pulling in 11 catches for 133 yards. But what’s it gonna take for the man to get in the end zone. He’s on pace for an 86-catch, 1,000-yard season, yet has only two TDs, both coming in one game. I could really use a TD or two from Daniels. For all his yards on Sunday, he scored fewer points for me than Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who managed only one catch for 25 yards, but it was good for a TD and seven-plus points for my opponent.
- Mike Shanahan, I hate you, and this time, it’s not even about your running backs. Well, it kind of is. What business does Peyton Hill — your fullback!! — have catching seven passes for 116 yards and a TD while Brandon Marshall gets only two grabs? I guess I’m paying for the crime of having faith in the Broncos.
- In case you haven’t noticed, Kevin Curtis is back on the field for the Eagles. After three catches in his first game back, he had six for 83 yards Sunday. Not exactly earth-shattering numbers, but he did lead the Eagles in receiving last year, so if you need WR help, look him up.
- Of course, I also had praise for Donnie Avery last week, and as soon as I picked him up and started him, he goes in the tank with a meager 26 yards. Ugh!
I’m cutting this week’s entry short. It’s getting too depressing.
